In Love with the Enemy

“In Love With the Enemy” is a multi-disciplinary project about the way humans can become entrenched in conflict and addicted to violence. When love calls, it is met with resistance, and peace remains elusive.

In Love With the Enemy Short Film
Mixing spoken word, VJing, archival footage and electropop songwriting, “In Love With the Enemy” is a musical video essay by Nat Ya, directed and edited by Fulvio Rifuggio. Alternating gravity and playfulness, Nat Ya conveys the absurdity of war through conflicting images of desire and destruction. The lone soldier longs for his attacker to strike, the oppressed falls in love with the oppressor… yet cannot give into peace.

ABOUT:

Based in London and Alessano, Italy, Natacha Chossudovsky is an electro pop producer working under the artist name Nat Ya.

Nat Ya bridges elements of electro, hip hop and trip hop for a dark and poetic musical outlook. Best described as electro pop, her tracks combine an underground electronic atmosphere with stylised vocals and varied rhythmic landscapes.

Surrounded at a young age by big band jazz cats, French-Canadian-Russian-Irish Natacha picked up the sax at age ten, later crossing over into classical music with the 'cello. Choral singing made up another facet of her musical education. She then focused on “the Word,” studying English Lit and Critical Theory at university. That love affair culminated with songwriting, which in turn took her into the studio where she discovered music production as the greatest passion of all. From 2012 to 2014, she went on to study music production in London and San Francisco.

Additionally, in 2021 Natacha began formal training in classical composition, under the tutelage of Francesco Negro and David Simonacci. In Spring 2023 she spent 2 months at the Centro Nacional de Escuelas de Arte de Cuba (CNEArt) to further enhance her composition skills.

Nat Ya has worked with American duo BNZA, UK producer Justin Broad (Corrine Bailey Rae, Jessie J, Izzy Bizu) and Berlin-based techno producer Steph Lefrançois (S L F, SET).
